The 7th Bord Bia Bloom Festival is on this weekend in Phoenix Park and I visited yesterday. It’s open till Monday 3rd June so plenty of time to visit and it’s well worth it. Bloom is Ireland’s largest gardening, food and family event. Tickets cost €20 for adults and kids go free.
There is plenty to see – the show gardens are truly stunning with a variety of large, medium and small gardens. There is lots for the kiddies – play area, workshops, giant space hoppers and entertainment. Look out for Peppa the pig and Sam the farmer. There is the food area with demo’s and an artisan food market and a craft area full of Irish products. It is really well organised and the good weather makes it even better.
Check out the website http://www.bloominthepark.com to buy the tickets and to find more information.
And remember you can vote for your favourite garden to win people’s choice. My favourite was the Hospice garden, Journey on Earth. The garden moves to Harold’s Cross open to the public from July 28th as part of their Open Gardens fundraising event. Visit www.hospiceopengardens.ie for more information.
