Last night I was lucky enough to spend the evening in the beautiful setting of the new Avoca in Malahide Castle after hours with some new blogger friends. Emily Westbrooks, of From China Village, had organized a lifestyle bloggers meetup. I have been blogging for four years now [wow where has the time gone?] and this was the first time I have gone to one of these events. The best thing about blogging is getting inspiration from other bloggers and finding that blog that speaks to you. It’s about making connections and what better way to do this than an evening like yesterday.

Avoca was the perfect place with its relaxed ambience and welcoming staff [even the peacocks came to say hello]. They are trying to instill a community spirit into the space by hosting events such as last night and getting the community involved which I think is an excellent idea and one which will make them a lasting presence in the heart of Malahide. They had a beautiful spread of their most excellent food ranging from the savoury to the sweet. Emily and Julie had set up the tables with beautiful flowers and tealights but we actually ended up standing around chatting and getting to know some new friends. The two hours whizzed by and before we knew it, it was time to hit the road before the park-ranger locked us in! Avoca presented us with a lovely goodie bag to send us on our way. I’ll most definitely be back to sample more of their delights. The biggest bonus of course was meeting some fellow bloggers. It’s great to see such an active collection of creative souls and I look forward to adding some new blogs to my daily reads. Thanks to both Emily and Avoca for a lovely evening.
