Another cracking gig from Clock Opera at Academy 2 last night. It’s just a pity that they haven’t gathered a bigger following here because their album is stunning. Some stand out songs include Once and Again, The Lost Bouys and my personal favourite Belongings. And they don’t disappoint live either bringing the songs to life. This is part of their Lost Bouys Tour which sees them busy touring throughout October and November. So spread the word, tell your friends, buy the album – that’s an order!

Another great surprise was the support band Hush War Cry, an Irish band from Cork. I loved their sound and the fact that the two lead singers take turns which really works. One of the singers had echoes of Harry McVeigh from White Lies and they have been touted as Cork’s answer to Wild Beasts. They have an EP Voices which is well worth checking out. Unfortunately, they did mention that last night was their last gig for two-months! Looking forward to hearing more from these guys.
