Definitely in the running for my gig of the year – only one word for this gig: Amazeballs! The gig was originally scheduled for the Academy but ended up moving and selling out the Olympia! From the first song, the energy was electric and Foster the People had the crowd in the palm of their hands. The Olympia was on its feet and bouncing. With only one album the gig was short but energetic and they pumped out hit after hit. The front man bounced around the stage like an energiser bunny and had some very funky dance moves – Ferris Bueller came to mind! Mark Foster may not have the best voice but boy can he sell those songs. He is a talented musician and he sure knows how to win over a crowd, telling the Irish audience that ‘you guys make strangers feel like home’. Loved the electronic vibe to the songs and the strong beats. Also the lighting added to the atmosphere and to top it all off Mark Foster even crowd surfed at the end of ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ and judging from the huge smile on his face, he enjoyed it as much as we did. We left the gig on a high ready to face the week ahead.
